Summer Camps

Each year, the UMKC School of Computing and Engineering hosts summer camps geared toward middle and high school students. SCE works with local partners to offer these programs with the goal of inspiring students to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Google Fiber App Camp

UMKC, in partnership with Google Fiber, is proud to offer “App Camp,” a weeklong experience for 9th-12th graders that provides students with the skills necessary to program an application for an Android smartphone. Incorporated into the camp is four days of intensive app development, followed by a marketing presentation to a panel of judges at the Google Fiber Space on the fifth day. Awards are presented at the camp for the Best App, Best Presentation, and many other categories.

Registration for the 2017 Google Fiber App Camp is now closed.

KCP&L Get Into Energy Camp

Students entering the 7th, 8th, and 9th grade are invited to join UMKC professors and KCP&L staff for three fun-filled days of hands-on learning and exploration in the field of energy. You’ll learn how electricity is created, transmitted, and distributed to be used to power everyday items and the world around us. You’ll also learn about exciting career opportunities that are rewarding and in demand.
