COMPUTER FUNDAMENTALS WITH COMPTIA A+

The Computer Fundamentals with COMPTIA A+ provides the background knowledge and skills you will require to be a successful IT technician. Not only is this class the perfect starting point for anybody looking to enter the field of IT, but also will help you prepare to take the CompTIA A+ Core Series certification examinations, in order to become a CompTIA A+ Certified Professional.

Description: CompTIA A+ certified professionals are proven problem solvers. They support today’s core technologies from security to cloud to data management and more. CompTIA A+ is the industry standard for launching IT careers into today’s digital world. It is the only industry recognized credential with performance-based items to prove pros can think on their feet to perform critical IT support tasks in the moment.

COURSE OVERVIEW

In this course, you will install, configure, optimize, troubleshoot, repair, upgrade, and perform preventive maintenance on personal computers, digital devices, and operating systems.

  • Support operating systems.
  • Install and configure PC system unit components and peripheral devices.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot display and multimedia devices.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot storage devices.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot internal system components.
  • Install, configure, and maintain operating systems.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot Microsoft Windows.
  • Explain network infrastructure concepts.
  • Configure and troubleshoot network connections.
  • Manage users, workstations, and shared resources.
  • Implement client virtualization and cloud computing.
  • Implement physical security.
  • Secure workstations and data.
  • Troubleshoot workstation security issues.
  • Support and troubleshoot laptops.
  • Support and troubleshoot mobile devices.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot print devices.
  • Implement operational procedures.
WHO SHOULD TAKE THIS COURSE?
  • This course is meant for anyone who is looking to enter a career in IT and is the preferred qualifying credential for technical support and IT operational roles such as an IT support specialist or help desk technician.
  • The IT support team maintains the computer networks for all types of organizations, providing technical support and ensuring the company runs smoothly.
  • A help desk technician must have both hard and soft skills because the position requires a strong technical understanding as well as the ability to communicate clearly with others.
  • The class meets Monday to Friday of every week, in person, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
  • Every class will have hands-on activities. Tasks not completed during class time have to be completed before the following day.
CERTIFICATION

The CompTIA A+ Core Series requires candidates to pass two exams: Core 1 (220-1001) and Core 2 (220-1002) covering the following new content:

  • Demonstrate baseline security skills for IT support professionals
  • Configure device operating systems, including Windows, Mac, Linux, Chrome OS, Android and iOS and administer client-based as well as cloud-based (SaaS) software
  • Troubleshoot and problem solve core service and support challenges while applying best practices for documentation, change management, and scripting
  • Support basic IT infrastructure and networking
  • Configure and support PC, mobile and IoT device hardware
  • Implement basic data backup and recovery methods and apply data storage and management best practices

The class will be taught by IT veterans who are in the industry and have considerable knowledge of the content that they are teaching. They are also certified Comptia A+ professionals.
