CLASS GOAL: Gain an understanding of the project management concepts, terms, processes, and scenarios that are required content for the PMP Certification Exam in this 35 hour Online course.
DATES: August 2 to August 25, 2022
SCHEDULE: Monday and Thursdays from 5:30-8:30PM plus two Saturday mornings 9:00AM-12:00PM. All times are Central time. See table below

Note: A few sections are blended learning. You will be required to review the section, take a quiz, then discuss them in class.
CLASS DETAILS

- 35 hours of PMP training – geared toward exam content
- An interactive / live class delivered via Zoom
- Class documents (slides, worksheets, etc.) available on a Google Drive
- Project Management Process Map – study guide
- Team and individual activities – similar to classroom type activities

- Crosswind Exam Manual & Exam Simulation software (valued at $200)
Recommended resource (provided by student): PMBOK 6th edition & Agile Practice Guide (packaged with PMBOK6)

SCHEDULE: Determine a convenient schedule through consultation with SCE Continuing Education. Participants will receive a certificate upon completion of the class documenting 35 class hours.
FEE: Fee is dependent on location, duration and schedule, number of participants, and materials needed.
LOCATION: Hold the course remotely, or at your office site, or hold the class on the UMKC Campus in the SCE executive education classroom.
INSTRUCTOR
Lyn Heaton, PMP
Lyn Heaton has been active in the Project Management field for more than 30 years, both as a Project Manager and an educator. She has provided project management training to various corporations, the U.S. Army, and UMKC.
Lyn worked for 19+ years in the Telecommunications industry at Sprint Nextel. She held the position of Project / Program Manager in various departments including Network Services, Information Services, Finance, and Marketing. During that time she worked on many of their multi-million dollar projects. Before moving to Overland Park, Lyn was an instructor of computer science courses at Austin Community College in Austin, TX. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln.
Lyn is an active member of the Kansas City Chapter of PMI, previously serving on their board of directors as the VP of Professional Development. She has helped to teach or facilitate PMP Prep training for the chapter since 2007. She received her PMP in 2001 and holds a Master’s Certificate in Project Management from George Washington University.

NOTE: If you are a full time student, membership is available for a nominal fee - OPTIONAL: obtain the recommended PMBOK 6th edition and the Agile Practice Guide that accompanies the PMBOK (free download available to PMI members)
