This introductory module of the program will invite participants to explore key principles of effective leadership, share a brief history of leadership, discuss research on the behaviors and practices of effective leaders, and provide an opportunity for participants to complete a self-assessment to assess their own practice of leadership. After attending this session, participants will better be able to:

  • identify what it takes to lead effectively in organizations and in communities.
  • distinguish the difference between leadership and management, and how each contributes to organizational success.
  • explain the implications of their own capacity to lead effectively.
