Dual Degrees

Students complete stress tests on sample concrete

A love of science and technology is the basic foundation for every SCE graduate. Our dual-degree program recognizes that a liberal arts background, combined with a SCE degree, produces a well-rounded, educational experience. We collaborate with other colleges and universities to make this happen for interested students.

Here’s how it works: Students spend three or four years working towards their liberal arts/sciences degree at another institution. Then they transfer to UMKC to begin their two years of engineering or computer science coursework. Upon successful completion of the programs, students will earn a degree from the original institution and UMKC. We believe the complementary degrees blend a powerful mix of technical and communication skills that employers notice.

  • LET US KNOW YOU’RE INTERESTED

The best way to prepare for a dual degree program is to gather information. Talk to the dual degree coordinator at your home institution and schedule a transfer consultation with SCE to make sure you are on the right path.

  • APPLY FOR ADMISSION

At least one semester before you plan to start your UMKC studies, apply for admission as a transfer student.

  • SUBMIT YOUR FAFSA

Submit your Free Application for Federal Student Aid to UMKC by February 1 to meet the priority deadline. The FAFSA code for UMKC is 002518.

  • YOU’RE OFFICIALLY A ROO

Congratulations! Once you have received your acceptance to UMKC, you will meet with your academic advisor to plan the rest of your degrees and enroll in classes. Contact the SS&C Student Services Center to schedule your appointment at 816-235-2399 or sce@umkc.edu.
